With more and more people self employed and setting up businesses from home accounting software are becoming much more of a necessity. If your business is lucky enough to be growing rapidly you may have trouble keeping a track of all your finances. If you don’t want to spend every evening yourself going thorough the accounts you could pay an accountant to do all this for you, but this is costly and not feasible for small businesses that are starting out. The best way is to buy reputable accounting software. And if you get this right is could be a major investment for your business. But you don’t want to spend a lot of money on accounting software only to find out that a few months down the line your business is growing so rapidly and your accounting software cannot handle it.
The problem with accounting software is that there is no single best product that suits every businesses needs. To find the best software you need to evaluate what your needs for your particular business are. Some of the questions you need to ask are:
• What exactly do you want the software to do?
• Will it cope if my business trebles in a year’s time?
• Will the software meet my current and future needs?
• Does the package provide web integration?
• Can the software be customized? If so will it be capable of meeting your full requirements?
• Is the vendor reputable and do they offer customer and technical support?
• Does the software produce the reports your business needs?
• Is it easy to use?

The best way forward is to research your particular business accounting needs. Read reviews and find similar companies to yours and find out what software package they use and ask all the pros and cons of that particular software. There are many websites that evaluate and review software for you, but remember many businesses have different needs and are of a different size. And if your business is successful and growing rapidly then your accounting software needs to be able to have the resources to take on the extra accounts that it might produce in the future.
You must be careful not to buy accounting software because of its price. You may find some software that is very reasonably priced and then only to find out you have to upgrade it to it can run your business effectively. But this does not necessary mean that the more expensive software packages are any more suitable for your business. This is why you must be careful before you buy any software, research is a must. You might find all the different software packages on the market quite daunting and be put off and just buy one that’s in the price range you have available. And you may also use the excuse that you have little time to research what software package is most suitable. But a little amount of time spent before you purchase your software could save you an awful lot of hassle and time in the future. Don’t be afraid to ask companies for advice, they may tell you some horror stories they had and how to avoid these yourself.

Networking for Cleaning Companies: How to Plan Ahead
Copyright (c) 2006 The Janitorial Store
Networking is a great way to market your cleaning business, and in order to do it effectively, you need to plan ahead so you know what you want to accomplish at each event. You also need to grow and nurture your network to keep it fresh!
Networking isn't about seeing who can collect the most business cards. How many times have you attended an event, and then let the pile of cards sit on your desk? Have you ever gone back through the cards and wondered what the person looked like who gave you their card? Wouldn't it feel awkward to call that person up when you don't even remember meeting them or what they look like? Chances are, the cards will end up in the trash.
In order to network more effectively, it helps to have a plan of attack BEFORE the event. Here are some ways to plan ahead:
* Set a goal. Perhaps the goal is to connect and have a conversation with 3 people before the event is over. Once you've reached your goal, if you're not feeling comfortable, then give yourself permission to leave. However, if you're enjoying yourself, by all means stay and continue to meet more people.
* Be prepared. Have your business cards ready, know your "elevator speech", and be prepared with your conversation questions", noted in Part One.
* Be proactive. Instead of waiting for people to approach you, take the initiative and walk up to someone who looks like they could use someone to talk to and introduce yourself. Ask them about their business. They'll be relieved someone is taking an interest in their business and will eventually ask about yours.
* Listen, listen, listen! Ask questions about the person you've just met, and then let them talk. The more you let people talk about themselves, the more you learn. Eventually they'll realize that they've been doing all the talking and ask about your business.
* Give referrals. Don't go to the event with the goal of just finding new prospects for your business. People give referrals to people who are generous and offer referrals to them.
* Remember to write comments on the back of the cards you receive. Perhaps someone mentioned they might have a referral for you but need to look up the contact person's information at the office. Or maybe you talked about continuing the conversation over coffee. Jot down these notes - this will help you when it comes time to follow up.
* Plan to follow up. When you get home, don't simply set aside the cards and forget about them. Make a point to follow up with the people you've met within a week. The best way to follow up is with a phone call.
Once you're in the habit of planning for the events you'll attend, you need to come up with a way to keep your network growing. It's not enough to attend the event and perhaps do one follow up call. Your network needs to remain "fresh". Here's some tips for growing your network and keeping it fresh:
* Start a contact database so you have a place to document the people you meet. Enter information into the database soon after meeting someone or attending an event. Make notes in the database about every contact you have with this person, along with the date. This will be helpful to you if you need to refer back to a conversation or if it's been a while since you've connected with this person.
* Go through your database regularly and contact at least 2 people you haven't spoken to in 60 or 90 days. This way they won't forget you.
* Always be prepared by having your business cards with you -- when going shopping, to the hair salon, even at your child's school events. You never know when you might meet someone who could provide you with a referral.
* Spend at least 2 days a month attending networking events.
* Invite someone in your network to attend an event with you, rather than always going alone. Don't stick together at the event though. Each of you should make new connections and then you can talk and compare notes later.
* If you read an article in a magazine, newspaper or on the Internet, clip it or print it out and send it to a person in your network that you think might be interested.
* Don't let your database get bogged down with old information and contacts. Once a year, go through the database and delete any people you haven't connected with during the year.

A Brief Overview of Adware & Spyware
Since early use of the term in a Usenet post that was reported October 17, 1994, the word “spyware” began being used in a relatively joking manner with Microsoft products. Although the term used to refer to James Bond-type tiny spy cameras, in the year 2000 the term was used by Zone Labs Founder Gregor Freund in a ZoneAlarm Personal Firewall press release. And this term was adopted worldwide by online users thereafter.
In a nutshell what happened was that around the time the press release was published in 2000, Gibson Research’s Steve Gibson reported some advertising software that was installed on his system without his approval and knowledge beforehand with adware features that was sharing his personal information without his authorization. And the software was not easy to remove. Hence Gibson announced their initial anti spyware utility called, OptOut. And many more programs have since followed from companies all over.
Just the Facts….

If you think spyware isn’t serious, check out these facts reported in a November 2004 research survey conducted by National Cyber-Security Alliance and AOL. Studies showed that:
Nearly 80 percent of those who responded said that as computer users, they had some form of spyware on their systems.
There was an average of 93 spyware components on each computer system.
Approximately 89 percent of the participants reports having no knowledge of the spyware’s presence.
And more than 94 percent stated that they had not granted permission for the spyware’s installation.
With Microsoft’s browser, Internet Explorer, being so popular, it also is the most likely places for spyware activity and computer attacks to occur. So Window’s users especially need protection. Arm yourself with an arsenal of a firewall, anti-virus software and anti-spyware software. Beware fake programs, though, that say they will remove spyware, but in reality only add to the problem. Some bad software programs reported in this manner are, in no particular order of preference, are:
AlfaCleaner
AntispywareSoldier
AntiVirus Gold
BraveSentry
Malware Wipe
PAL Spyware Remover
Pest Trap
Privacy Defender
PSGuard
The Shield 2006
SpywareStrike
SpyAxe
SpyBan
SpyFalcon
SpyTrooper
Spy Sheriff
SpyWiper
Spyware Stormer
Spyware Quake
VirusBurst
Trustcleaner Pro
WorldAntiSpy
WinFixer

Before you try spyware removal software, go to names you can trust like Symantec, McAfee and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. And begin with updating your Windows security feature on a regular basis.
